My kitchen was painted about 5 years ago.
We went from birch to white after 30 years.
    Now it needs painting again.
Being retired we cannot afford to do it.
Therefore, I would like new cabinets and a complete overhaul
    Thank you

I’m entering this contest because my kitchen truly needs a make over. I still have metal cabinets from the 1950’s that some doors don’t remain closed. The vinyl tiles on the floor are so worn and torn in areas. I would love to have a kitchen that’s up to date.

I wish I could give that to you both. I just simply post what contests are going on in the cyberworld

I take care of my 90 year old Mom. She still likes to cook, however my old kitchen HAs very little room. Not much counter space Or cupboard space. Her walker makes it difficult to navigate & reach things. Desperate for a remodel with more cupboards making things easier to reach. I am single & just barely get by on my income.

nearly 3 years ago we purchased and moved in to this old farmhouse. It is rough. I believe the only reason we were lucky enough to get this home is that there ‘wasn’t a functional kitchen’ inside. We have since made do with what cabinets that were left behind in the garage and my daughter got an old dishwasher that was left here to work. We pushed some cabinets together for a working surface and there was a GE range that was mostly operable. The floor in the kitchen is frightening. It has holes in the lanolium and tears in various areas and even clean it doesn’t look nice at all. We haven’t gotten around to fixing up the kitchen as there was too much else to do to make the place habitable and safe for our pets and family. Otherwise it is now a ‘functional’ kitchen but extrememly ugly looking and in dire need of a makeover. Sincerely, Pat

Both my kitchen and yours truly could use a makeover but my choice would be for the kitchen to get the honors first. Everyone will have to be content looking at me, and my big smile, while I work in my new beautiful kitchen.

  • 9. Marge  |  February 11, 2007 at 4:26 pm

My mother is a caterer who works in a very small, tight chen space with minimal counterspace. Her kitchen is in desparate need of a makeover for her business and because she has started to think of cooking as a chore and it used to be fun for her. We need a modern, functional, and accessible kitchen and our whole family needs it. we would be very grateful if we could.

Help: My kitchen is so ugly I can’t stand to be in it. The cabinets are half wood and half painted and just plain old. I have no dishwasher and the oven doesn’t heat all the way. I have the worst counter tops I have ever seen. Please help me!

College bills, private school tuition, school loans, mortgage and bills, bills, bills. Let’s not forget, growing children need lots of food. I work as a secretary and my husband is a school bus driver. We would love to have our dream kitchen in our beautiful home but there is priority. My children’s education comes first and we still have many more years to go. I will never be able to afford a kitchen. My first dream is to see my children successful in their lives with a great family, great health, and great careers. My second dream is for my husband and I to have our home complete with a beautiful kitchen for the grandchildren one day. Thank you!!!

I purchased this house 6 years ago after going through a divorce. I was so proud of myself for purchasing it by myself. I have since remarried and my husband would like me to have a new kitchen. The one we have is very outdated. I work at the hospital and volunteer on our ambulance service so I am very busy. It would be wonderful to have a new updated kitchen.

  • 15. Lauren DiBiase  |  March 8, 2007 at 4:02 pm

My house is 25 years old with the original kitchen. In the last 3 years I’ve renovated two bathrooms which was costly. My husband is retired and I work. We would like to sell the house in the very near future but I know we won’t get what the house is worth because of the kitchen. A new kitchen would make me so happy cause I would get to live in it a while.

  • 16. Lauren DiBiase  |  March 8, 2007 at 4:07 pm

My house is 25 years old with the original kitchen. We’ve renovated two bathrooms in the last two years and doing the same to the kitchen at this time is impossible. My husband is retired for quite some time now and I work. I would do almost anything for a new dream kitchen.

I have a wonderful family that often has neighbor kids in and out and we host holidays a lot since we have the room. We have lived in our home for 8 years now and I am in desperate need of a kitchen makeover. I think it was redone in the 70’s. It has the old fashioned wood paneling, dark cabinets and blue carpet. The counter tops are white/green speckled formica. It seems very dark and gloomy. I’d wish for something easy to clean and bright and cheerful that says welcome to my home.

  • 18. Mary  |  March 20, 2007 at 3:48 pm

Our home is over 100 years old, and the layout does not work at all!! There is a hole under the cabinets where the hand pump was once installed. We have so little room that there is only one drawer in the kitchen, and it holds the silverware. There is less than 15 sq .ft. of countertop space, and even less floor space. We our kitchen table is on the enclosed back porch with the bathroom (an afterthought). there is NO storage. We did try to redo the kitchen, but we don’t hjave the money to do what needs to be done, and to top it off, I’m disabled and have lost the use of my legs, amking it very difficuklt to work in the kitchen.

I didn’t mind the kitchen when I was able to walk and work with what I had, and I loved to cook. I do my best, but it’s just impossible.

I won’t even get into dealing with our 4×6 bathroom, but that could hopefully be moved to the other side of the room if we were to win a makeover. I wish I could work to bring home an income, but I can’t. Winning a makeover the only way I will se a new kitchen in this house.

    Best of luck to all.

  • 19. Ellen Ashmore  |  March 24, 2007 at 11:11 pm

Help, Help, Help , we need a new kitchen in the worse way. my flooring is trying to come up, I have very few cabninets and what I do have they are falling apart,I mean litterally two front doors have fallen off. The wall paper is very outdated. my portable dishwasher has quit working. And to add to all of this we had a major water leak under the sink a couple of weeks ago and all the water went under the cabinet and flooring making the flooring look that much worse.

I really hope that you connsider us for your contest. There is no way we could possibbely afford a new kitchen now or in the near future, Just like other families out there we struggle on a daily basis of paying bills and how to pay them. We work sometimes four jobs between us but still never enough money.

It would just be so nice to have people come to my house and I not be inbarressed by how my kitchen looks.

  • 20. Ken Rowan  |  March 29, 2007 at 3:10 am

I am entering this contest for my wife, who I love very much and I know how much new kitchen would mean to her. we moved from Fl to Nj few years back and the house we got is about 80 y.o. We have had many problems with mold in basement, so we did everything we could to clean this up before our little girl was born. That left us with nothing to work with as far as other remodeling or anything for that matter. My wife always cares about everyone else and often loves to make people happy with her great cooking, but the condition of our kitchen is just depresing and if enything would make her happy I know, it will be the kitchen she is always dreaming about. It is so sad that we can’t afford to do that on our own, but the bills are just to high every month to think about this…………..My wife is 31 yo and I don’t even know when was the last time she got something for herself (clothing, makeup or shoes…..) She is alwys so good to me and to our little girl, she always is so concern about the bills and the food and us. I would be so happy if you would connsider my lovely wife for this contest.
    Best regards.

  • 23. Samantha  |  April 1, 2007 at 8:38 pm

My Kitchen needs help! I live in a rancher with my parents and two brothers. I am entering this contest for my parents. They are both very dedicated to helping others that sometimes things in our own home gets left undone. We have lived in our home for 22 years. The cabinets and appliances are the originals from when the house was built 30 years ago. The dishwasher has never worked since we moved in. Under the kitchen sink has leaked for years, and my dad can’t seem to fix it himself. The cabinets are warped from the water damage. My parents try to save up to make the needed remodeling, however other things always come up with more importance. Like a said before my parents are always helping other people; I would just like to see something nice happen to them for a change.

The reason I would love a kitchen makeover my wife is a excellent German cook and loves too cook for other people all the time we have alot of parties and quite a few people come over but my wifedoes all the cooking on our liittle stove but she does this even though she is very sick and in an out of the hospital all the time. We are all disabled my daughter has siezures alot and hydrocephulus {water on the brain} and I have Parkinson’s disease so we could never afford her dream kitchen with a very big cookstove. My wish is to make her dream come true because she always puts everyone before her now I’d love too do something for her can anyone help me make her dream come true?

Our kitchen is sadly out dated and mix matched. The size and proportions make imagining and restying limiting. We have cork tiles on our kitchen floors that are peeling. We have some plastic cabinets and some really ugly fiberboard cabinets in our kitchen that were here when we bought the house. The porcelin is chipping off of the stove and our refridgerator leaks inside. We have an ivory colored kitchen sink that is scratched and leaks and we do not have enough counter or cabinets space. One of the two cabinet drawers in our kitchen is broken. Our kitchen needs a serious makeover. Help!

  • 26. Florence Butler  |  April 22, 2007 at 5:58 am

We’ve been living in our house for 20 years. Our kitchen, which is very small, you can be at the sink turn around and two steps you are at the stove, I am even taller than our refrigerator and I am 5’4″. Our hot and cold faucets you have to turn then on the opposite way. We don’t have any room . We put in a pergo floor and boy what difference it looks bigger but when you are at the sink it is still 2 steps to the stove. Anyway, we have a utility room that can fit a car and half in it and it would be great as a kitchen. Us like many other people have our situations and we can’t afford to transform what needs to be done. We are in serious need of a kitchen Please help!!

  • 27. Michelle Brown  |  April 23, 2007 at 7:05 pm

My oven is so small that we have to find another house for Thanksgiving. This makes our open home, meaning welcome all anytime, especially on holidays, very challenging. The gaping holes in the ceiling are also a bit embarrassing and quite drafty in winter. We are two dedicated teachers, our kitchen has potential, but it seems our “resources” always go to our students. We still feel very blessed as we have a table, food to put on it, and friends to sit around it. A nice kitchen is a faraway dream.

  • 28. geraldine Laguerre  |  April 27, 2007 at 1:32 am

As a first time homeowner it’s a blessing to come home each day to what we our own. We are a family of four with a 1 year old and a five year old (boys). We love spending time together and having great laughs. Unfortunately when it comes to dinner time it is not so great. We currently have a very old yellow and blue kitchen with the old cabinetry that is missing many doors to it. We do not even place anything in them in fear of what may happen. So right now everything is on the counter. Please come to our rescue and give us the dream kitchen that will match our dream home.

Me and my husband bought our first house last March. We really liked the house setting. The yard is to die for. Everything else about the home is ok. The only thing is bath room and Kitchen both have carpet. The cabinet was painted with real cheap off white paint. But the kitchen in the house was the only thing I didn’t like about the home. Not many cabinet. Just plan. I have been on my own since I was 19yrs old. When my father past away I didn’t have anyone to turn to for help. I have worked full time since then. Working pay check to pay check. I finally married andI have 2 wonderfull kids and my dream was to have a house and a yard to play in. My husband each job his has most of the time get laid off. Right now he even out of work. So to fix this kitchen on my own would be impossible. It’s not that my husband want work and just can’t find a good dependable job. This house to me has been a life dream. If I had a kitchen that would go with the house. My life would be complete. Thanks for reading my story.

Iwould like to enter this contest for my cousins wife. Told by her landlord that they had to be out of their house by March 1st she searched for an affordable house in her neighborhood. She found a total fixer upper but the week they were going to closing she was diagnosed with lung, colon and liver cancer. While she is going through chemo her friends in her neighborhood have done an amazing job to fix the house, but there is no kitchen. It was in a closet area so now there are no appliances or cabinets and they’ve just moved in. I know she’d love to create a beautiful home and kitchen for her six year old son. Thank you

  • 31. Janis Cook  |  May 4, 2007 at 6:40 pm

I would like to enter the contest because I need a complete kitchen makeover. We have lived in our house for over 30 years. Besides raising 2 daughters we have also off and on raised 8 grandchildren. We have time to time had all the family living with us in just 2 bedrooms. We had no time or money to fix the house the way we want to,since we have someone always living with us .

  • 32. Rebecca Dunphy  |  May 6, 2007 at 11:27 pm

I am a young mother of three and we have bought our 1982 home last year. The wood panel doors have been painted so many times that now they won’t even close. The whole lay out is just hazarrdis. My children have had several colse encounters with the expossed stove and sideways turned fridge. The only thing that I like about our kitchen is the new britta attachment I got for xmas this year for our facusset that can’t handle the weight of it and keeps falling off. I need a kitchen that I can cook and look after my children without fearing for their safety.

  • 33. Carolyn R. Spears  |  June 25, 2007 at 5:18 pm

I am a 52 year old housewife who recently experienced a number of life crisis’. In 2005, my job of 23 years ended due to loss of funding and in 2006, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and had to have a total hip replacement. What a blow!! I love being in the kitchen despite the fact that everything is over 30 years old. I would be grateful for a new kitchen.

  • 34. Yvette Ramirez  |  July 4, 2007 at 3:28 am

Our kitchen looks like it was decorated in 1954. It is drab and dreary and no one, including me, wants to spend time in it. I don’t like to cook in the kitchen for my family. The cabinets are dark brown particle board and are small. There is very little counter space. It is difficult to spend time in there even though the kitchen is always a very popular place for people to congregate. The wall paper is dated, ugly, and dusty. The vinyl flooring isn’t much better. Perhaps you could help us to update our kitchen to this millenium?

I would love to win the kitchen makeover contest for several reasons. The main reason I wold like this makeover is because I love to cook and have a very small space to work in. I am a new homeowner in a single family home but I am the cook for the family. I love cooking meals from scratch. I am a poor working teacher in WV and I am struggling to finish my remodeling of my house. Winning this contest would mean the world to me.

  • 42. Karen Curl  |  August 9, 2007 at 2:22 am

I would love to win a kitchen makeover. I have a large outdated kitchen that needs helo that I cannot give. I just had a friend tell me my kitchen does not look like a place where guest would gather and that it looks institutional. I felt embarrassed. I want to have family and friends over and be proud to show my kitchen.

My husband controls the extra money in the family. He feels there is no need to ever update our kitchen. The cabinets are solid wood, and our house was built in the mid 70’s. That’s the problem, it screams 1970. I’mnever going to get out of the 70’s without some help!

  • 45. Sedef Guzeldere  |  September 11, 2007 at 10:25 pm

Well we bought our 1st home about 7 years ago, the kitchen still has its original cabinets, lighting, stove, and style. We painted the ugly, dark, pressed wood cabinets white and added new hardware, it looked good…but know the paint is chipping off, some of the drawers can’t even be pulled out without falling out, and well with 3 kids they think the white is a blank state to draw on. We are on a budget so can you help us.

  • 46. Christine Craven  |  September 14, 2007 at 10:12 pm

Every year, we host a christmas eve dinner at our house. 22 people come over and have the greatest Polish dinner there is and i just think because my mom works so hard and spends the most time in the kitchen that she deserves to work in an environment that has repainted cabniets, tiles on the floor redone, and most important more counter space. Us kids just love to throw things on the counter and then mom has no space to cook. There is just no space. And plus people would love to see the kitchen clean and ready to be worked in when they come to enoy themselves. (oh and we don’t have that type of money w/both parents teachers!)

  • 47. Melessa  |  September 18, 2007 at 5:32 pm

I’m a mother of 2 and I entertain a lot. We bought our house two years ago. It was built in the 70’s. Nothings changed except a few paint jobs over the years. I’ve been wanting a new kitchen ( or a remodeled one) since we’ve moved in. There is always something else that gets in the way, paying taxes (we own a small business) a new roof, a 1967 convertible. Let me explain. We just refinanced our house and I was finally going to get my kitchen remodeled. Well my husband was searching the internet (craigslist) and found a1967 Pontiac Convertible in great shape for sale (about 10,000.00 less than bluebook). It was a very good deal and the same cost as a new kitchen. I still don’t know how I got talked out of a new kitchen and into a new car (by the way its my husbands favorite car since forever, maybe that had something to do with it). But I’m now a proud owner of a cool convertible and am still in need of an updated kitchen. This is my story and I know no one is shedding tears in fact some husbands would say I was the greatest wife ever but I still don’t have a new kitchen.

I would like to enter my mother for a kitchen makeover. She is the greatest woman in the world and I can honestly say she has never asked for anything. She has 13 children and 20 grandchildren. My mother has had the same kitchen for almost 28 years. My parents moved into this house when I was only 2 mths old and the same kitchen is still here. Currently there are doors missing and the drawers hardly open. My mom wants a quick fix because there is just not enough money for her dream kitchen. This place is a disaster. I believe my mom deserves a beautiful kitchen and if i could give it to her …i would. She’s amazing!

  • 50. Debbie  |  October 1, 2007 at 3:32 am

I really need this makeover, my kitchen is terrible.
It is painted an ugly, worn out green, which was painted a bit over ten years ago. The cabinets are chipped horribly, or stove is running out, and scratched. Some of the cabinets and drawers have no handles, and the flooring needs to be redone. Please contact me on to tell me if i qualify for this.

  • 51. Amanda Morales  |  October 10, 2007 at 9:00 pm

Purple formica cabinets, 2 layers of laminate flooring. The first layer is mustard yellow and the second was white (many years ago) The counter top and back spash is a shade of mauve. (to match the cabinets of course!!) I am a mother of a 15 month old, and have another on the way Due April 21st. We don’t have the money to re-do the kitchen, but desparately need a fix up. Please help.

Hi, I have dreaming of a new kitchen for such a long time now. My husband and I have been in our home for thirty years . My huband is the sole provider for our family, and have put our children through college and two weddings. It seems that everytime we would try to do something for ourselves our children or family needed our help more . I could go on living with this old kitchen for another thirty years if it means I could have my husband and family along side of me. However I love having everyone over and cooking for them, so having a beautiful kitchen would be a dream come true. My husbanf of thirty nine years has been helping everyone dreams come true by dedicating his time after work hours to help family and friens with problems in their homes at no cost to them, I would love to tell him that our dream is about to come true at no cost to him. Just entering and writing whats in my heart makes me feel like a winner. I will be happy even If we were not chosen because I feel whoever wins deserves the opportunity that you are about to give them. Thank you for allowing me to write whats in my heart.

We jujst moved to a new community and bought a house that is in need of work. The Kitchen is original 1956. The cabinets are metal and they still have the serial number sticker on them. The oven is wall mounted and tiny not to mention brown. The stove top has 3 working burners and the others only work if you start them off at level 3 and then you can change the temperature as needed. The back slpash is green marble ,plastic tiles stuck to the wall. A few are no longer stuck. The counter is green marble looking plastic as well. The drawers are copper and the sink is huge and brown leaving very little counter space. WE have 2 young children and moved so they could have a better place to grow up in. Now we have the ugliest original kitchen we need to update. We would greatly appreciate a new kitchen to help out with our new start.

I would love to have a kitchen makeover because my kitchen is about 40 years old and the mice have made the bottom cabinets their personal bathroom. During the winter the kitchen always smells! Please help!

HELP, I can’t take it any more! I would be soooo grateful for any change, big or small to my small kitchen. It’s galley style and lacks storage, updating and style. I’m at my wits end so please hurry.

    Thank you!

My daughter needs a kitchen makeover. It’s over 40 years old and is very tiny and needs to opened up and made functional with real working appliances. Some lighting would be good, too. She has never entertained due to her kitchen embarrassment. Anything would be helpfull.

My mom’s kitchen is in need of a serious makeover. The people we bought this house from were wall paper crazy. We have 3 differednt wallpapers in out kitchen, in addition to dark old cabinets and a very old dishwasher and fridge. The title is chipping and there is ugly white banisters dividing the family rooom from the kitchen. We would like a better divider.
Alos, the kitchen is the center of ther house, and with four kids, it is a wreck. Some organization is also needed. Anythingthing could help us! 🙂

I have a small kitchen with small cabinet space and taking down walls would expand it to a bigger kitchen. Got my ideas and dreams on how to expand it, but costs would be tight.

I am struggling with a kitchen built in the 70’s. The electric and formation is antiquated. My dishwasher is 3 cabinets down from the sink to the right. I am a lefty. I am inspired by beauty: and a chef style kitchen. I am struggling with severe rheumatoid arthritis and low back problems. I need my dishwasher set up and close. (don’t want to keep dropping dishes.) I also have always loved every kitchen appliance-food proc, blender, mixer etc and I have my counters loaded. I could not keep lifting them. So I need a kitchen which hides these fun toys that make cooking a joy.
Cooking and creativity are one for me and the serenity about going into a kichen that is structired for my needs would be showing huge populations of people injured and aging what a kitchen can be. The attention it would drawer would be a plus for all artistic ,creativepleasure giving food prepares who what their families around them for the greatest time sharing experience.. A place where we could gather and cook.
Tight now I’m cramped and have lost interest because the bending is exhaustive and painful.
Help me to be the creative culinary artist once again!

We mpved into a home built in the 1920s about 7 years ago. The kitchen has never been remodeled and, frankly, is falling apart in some areas. We can’t afford to do the remodel our kitchen desperately needs. Please help us to upgrade so we can use our kitchen better now and sell at a decent price when we retire. Thank you.

  • 64. Belinda Pettit  |  November 26, 2007 at 2:15 pm

Our home is 130 yrs. old. I’ve managed to drywall and paint the other lower floor rooms but the kitchen is nothing more than a room containing a refrigerator, stove and sink. There are no counters or cupboards. My husband built a “shelf” for canned goods when we bought the place 18 years ago. The flooring is torn up and the ceiling panels are falling. Our income is limited: my husband is 100% disabled thru the VA and I watch 4 grandchildren during the day. As our youngest daughter is serving her 3rd tour in Iraq, her 8 month old daughter lives with us until her return in 15-18 months. Taking care of a baby and soon-to-be toddler without a kitchen is difficult, but so far I have managed. This little girl will be spending alot of time with us as her mother deploys in future years. I don’t want much, nothing fancy, just some cupboards and counters and maybe take care of the falling ceiling panels. Anything would help. Thanks.

I live a wonderful old New England home, it has beautiful characteristics but also has a very old outdated, worn kitchen. My husband is not the handy man type, he tries bless his heart but I need professional help.I need new kitchen flooring and countertops, the appliances are fine but the cabinets and floor is in desperate help. I grit my teeth every time I wash the worn linoleum and want to scream when I clean the disgusting countertop, I cannot afford to remodel, can you please help me? PLEASE? Help! I’m trying to initiate a family with my fiance, but we can berly agree on first things first. To him, the kitchen is not his priority when on the other hand the kitchen for me is another encouragement me to pursue this relationship. I visit my fiance and it is disgusting to walk into his kitchen which looks more like a basement, very small old, old, old, cabinets; they smell. Groceries are all over the fridge;nowhere else to store our goods at times that is why grocery shopping doesn’t get done. The fossit leaks and our fossit sink has a horrible stains. I’m embarrased to invite my family and inlaws since I can’t offier them anything coming from the kitchen since I DON’T even like to go in there myself. I love my fiance and having the perfect kitchen will make me become a perfect wife, our relationship needs that bright side and I’m sure a re-modeled kitchen will place us closer to our special day “Marriage”. It’s not his fault; the house is just too old, but I at least want to have a favoite place in my house to be once I marry him and the kitchen is all I’m asking for. This will help us financially, emotionally, and in every way, Thank you.

My 152 year old home is tucked back in the woods and still has all the origianal features. The kitchen we added on because there wasn’t one when we bought the house 8 years ago. We now have running water from our spring and a bathroom that is finished. Now comes the kitchen. We just do not have the time or money. I decided to go to the university and get my degree at the age of 50. I work part time and also help 2 of my children who are in college. My kitchen is just studs with insulation. The plumbing and electical is finished. The floor is T&G plywood painted a nice brown. The counter is a high table my daughter made out of sapplings and rough lumber. The shelfs on the wall are of the same materials. I spend a good amount of time at the kitchen table doing homework. It would be wonderful to not look up and see a sink held up with two by fours (I did add a cute skirting to it though).

My husband and I just bought our first home and we love everything about it EXCEPT the kitchen. All the knobs are brass (who has brass anymore) and the color is a dingy yellow. The cabinets over the stove vut off the view into the family room. The counter tops are the worst outdated thing ever they are like a fake wood. Being that we are both full time workers and have a 3 year old we have not time or money to remodel. My husband LOVES to cook and this would be the untimate gift for him. Thanks so much and may the worst kitchen win!

My kitchen was supposd to be a part of an overall addition/renovation to move my parents out of the Northeast cold to more temperate Virginia. While I travelled repeatedly to Ohio during my mother’s illness, my contractor stole the money -over 25,000- while I was at my mother’s funeral. My house and yard are trashed, and unable to get another loan. As a Veteran with a disability I need to renovate my 50’s original kitchen as soon as possible.I hope to still move my father here also. A kichen with aging in place/disabilities accomodations I would love. ps The contractor was unlicensed so I can’t get my money back.

My husband and I bought a home in Rhode ISland that was built in 1880. Nothing has been done to this home in over 60 years because the woman we bought it from was too poor to do anything but cut out flowers from a magazine and glue them to the walls (she got the glue from the glue factory she worked in!) I am now pregnant, and the kitchen is unbearable, at best. Think Children fo the Corn.

Our home was built in 1976 and aside from the refrigerator, which had to be replaced, nothing has been done to our kitchen. The floors have a greenish lenoleum with strange psychedelic markings, the lights are the low florescent tube lights that make shadows in your face, the cabinets are a dark brown made of pressboard and the countertops are of mustard yellow fomica to match the appliances. Our kitchen window should be overlooking the back yard, but instead it overlooks a sunporch, which was an afterthought, but which makes the kitchen very dark. If you were to come to our home and see our kitchen you would be abruptly catapulted back in to the 70s. I often feel I should have a twiggy figure and wear gogo boots to fit the style of our very out dated, ugly and worn out kitchen. I am hoping that you can help.

I have a house in Colorado and recently married my wife who lives in Canada. We are planning on moving to the States in late Spring of 2008. I have an older Home and it needs to be updated and renovated. The wife and I are planning on doing this as soon as we move in and are able to. It would be an awesome gift to have this done before she gets to her new American House. She has been moving from apartment to apartment in waiting for our Immigration paperwork to clear and then moving to a house where we are going to try to renovate ourselves has made her a bit uneasy about the move. We both love to cook and entertain. Making this 12.5’x12.5′ kitchen with no dinning room functionable and sociable will be a challenge for us, we need help.
    Thank you.

My husband and I have worked extremely hard on making our home beautiful. My husband finished the basement entirely by himself and we he also has added beautiful trimwork thoughout the house. However, the only room we haven’t touched is the kitchen, and right now we cannot afford to update it. I would love to surprise my husband, who has worked so hard to provide for his family. I can’t tell you how much it would mean to me to win a kithcen makeover. Thank you for your time.

20 years ago, we moved from a small town to the city. This was to give our 5 children a better education and a chance for a college eduation. We suceeded, however, our house renovation were put on hold. Now, in the last year, I have pushed for small improvements. Paint and carpet. The one room that needs the most help is the kichen. It is totally disfunkional. The counter is always cluttered because there is no place to put things away. That which is put away, is difficult to get out to to use. My mother has moved in with us, and 2 in the kitchen is a nightmere. I used to love to cook, but now I dread going in that room.

I am not asking for myself, but for my Mom. She is the best mom ever. She is my best friend. If I could afford it, I would make over her kitchen myself. She has had 4 back surgeries in the past, She has arthritis and fibromialgia. She is in constant pain. Some days are so bad, I know she feels like ending her life. I think her family is the one thing that keeps her going. Even with all her pain, she rarely turns down a request to watch one of her grandchildren. She loves to bake cookies and meals for us, even though we are all moved out. She hasn’t been able to do this much anymore, because her kitchen isn’t very handy for someone in her condition. The cabinets are very high and the kitchen is long and narrow. They have a big old beautiful house, but the kitchen is something out of a “this is how not to try to update your kitchen on a low budget”!! The drawers are not on rollers, There are no slide out shelves. I know she would love a dishwasher. The list goes on and on for things that would make her life a little easier. She has always put everyone else first her whole life, starting at 17 when her Dad was killed in an industrial accident. She had 7 brothers and sisters and helped take care of them, until she got married and had her own family. I thing she deserves something for her.
Thanks for listening. Sincerely Pam Kouba

A gallery kitchen. After 33 yrs. here with a small kitchen. We started to make it look wider and bigger. First we build a wall to separate the kitchen from the living room. There we where going to install the refrigerator, pantry and a small counter top. The sink is across the stove only 3 tile seperate them thats how crowded and small it is. Our applicance are old and ugly. We manage to fix the stove. We put a seal around the fridge. But, it leaks. We did update our lighting with recess lighting. Looks great. I am not working at the moment. So our work has stopped. Can you please help us finish our outdated, unfinished kitchen. Our cabinet are old with wide doors.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I had my kitchen renovated about 4 years ago and they totally hacked up everything. All my new cupboards have pipes thru them and no backs on them. The backsplash is not even adheared to the walls and my countertops are not flush to the backsplack. My stove with a grill on it does not go flush to the wall. Everything they did was a mess. I need to remove all cupboards and redue the sheet rock they made big holes in and now we have big drafts coming in. We live in Rockport Ma. and it is very cold so having all the cold come in thru the cupboards. I have no more money to redue the kitchen and to look at the mess they did is something I see everyday. So I am asking for some help with the chance to redue it again. I have a thousand dollars toward the makeover. PLease let me know. Thank you very much. Mrs. Davis

I bought my house in 2004 it was built in 1999 but since I been there I have not been able to afford furniture or a kitchen table let alone new cabinets The faucet needs replacing water splashes everywhere when you turn it on. My cabinets need replacing the paint is chipping and the stove was left there from the previous owner and the oven works when it wants to. Financially I can not get it done but if you find in you hearts to make over my kitchen it will truly be a blessing.

My mom is 69, divorced and raised 5 kids by herself. She has never had anything nice, nor could she afford it. Her kitchen has white chipped cabinets, wallpaper falling off the walls, vinyl tile which is uneven in spots, and a stove which recently sparked and almost caught on fire! We would love to surprise her and have her win a kitchen makeover. She has always given and never had anything for herself. She definitely cannot afford to do her kitchen. My husband and I tried to help 11 years ago when we painted her ugly cabinets white, but they look awful now. I hope you can help. It would be so great to be able to give her something nice.

Hi I would love to get a kitchen makeover. 10 years ago my kids had two hamsters. One got out and went underneath the refrigerator and bit the water filter wire. This is for my daughter, Tara, who works hard and recently married a wonderful guy who bought his parents home that he lived in since he was young. Unfortunately he allowed the home to become rundown. They are trying very hard to update but it almost reminds me of the money pit. The more they try to do the more there is to do. The Kitchen is in the worst shape. I wish I could help her but I am unable to.
So I started looking for you.

I am a 37 year old wife and mom of three. I am suddenly in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I have come to terms with that, but I have not come to terms with not being able to cook in my kitchen. I love to cook and do this every night. It is hard now. I have been a stay at home mom for 15 years and am now back in college full time. I still cook each night, I feel that eating together is a tool that keeps families together and close. I call our dinner table a “safe place”. No grades, etc are talked about. My family has had to pick up so many extra duties due to my shattering my femur.( I fell due to the Muscular Dystrophy I have.) It was my fault, I would not give up walking. How do you wake up and say, ” I think I’ll give up walking today?” I couldn’t and I fell and now I wish I had just sat down. Getting an accessible kitchen would be a dream come true for my entire family. Thank you, Jody Farmer

Please help me. My boyfiend is buying his very first home and opening his home to me. The new house is perfect except for the fact that the home does not have much of a kitchen. The previous homeowner took every appliance except for the rusting dishwasher and we just can’t afford to replace everything right now. We are currently planning on using a dorm style freezer and living off of microwave food for months until we can afford to buy new appliances. I would love to do something nice for him and for the home because he is supporting me while I go to school with no expectation of compensation.

Why should I win this kitchen makeover? No particular reason other than I want it for my parents. I moved to Florida from New York three months ago to help take care of my dad. I sold everything and decided it was time to give back to them. We almost lost dad two years ago and my mother is still working full time at 76 years old. My parents have spent their entire lives GIVING to all of us and to strangers. Their three children ,including myself, talked them into moving to Florida for health reasons and they have been happy ,but their home needs SERIOUS updating. We just cant afford to help with this. I can give my love and time and hard work, but money is another issue. My parents would probably never allow us to pay for a new kitchen either. they would rather we spend it on ourselves. Anyway, dads passion in life, besides his family, is cooking! He loves preparing, experimenting and best of all, serving it his loved ones! The kitchen in thier home is ,to say the least, a nightmare. Dads time with us is precious and we know few, so I would be so grateful to give back to him…with your help and some “good luck” wouldnt hurt! Thank you for your time….Sincerely, Lori

My mom has always talked of her dream kitchen, and after cooking in the same kitchen for almost 40 years, I think she deserves it. She and my Dad moved into their first home together in January 1971. The kitchen was painted a horrible shade of green. The cabinents, countertops and floor are the same as the day they moved in because mom has worked hard all these years to keep them in tip-top shape, but after that many cleanings and waxings, some things just cannot but help show their age. The floor plan is not very user friendly, and the lack of a good pantry has always been a hassle. Ever since I was a kid, my mom has talked about her dream kitchen, and I would love to see her get one while she and her grandchildren can enjoy it.

I really need a new kitchen! I am 53 years old in poor health. My daughter, son-in-law & 3 grandkids moved in with me last summer. We all work but I have been in and out on disability so much I only receive 50% of my pay. No way in the world can the 3 of us afford to remodel the kitchen. I gave it aa facelift 3 1/2 yrs ago but my new pup I got last summer has pulled all the wallpaper off the walls, chewed and pulled all the baseboards off & door trim, has destroyed 2 bar stools & the chairs to my dinette set. Once the weather warms up he will be left in the backyard while we are at work (need to finish securing the area. My pup is a good boy in every other way but suffers from seperation anxiety. Between paying for my meds & his and all the other bills I am broke. Please help me get the kitchen of my dreams, I can’t stand the way my kitchen looks now! HELP!!!!!!

    To Whom It May Concern,

We are writing on behalf of our parents who desperately need a kitchen
makeover. The cupboards are original to the house (with many layers of paint

on the inside). They also need a new backsplash and upgraded appliances.
They also need a pantry as they age they are having difficulty bending down.

We would love too have their kitchen made over as they have always provided
for their children first and they have always put themselves second.

    Thank you in advance,
The Children Of Wanda and Henryk

I do not want a “dream kitchen”. I would just like to have a new floor and new cabinets and countertops. I do live in a mobile home that we purchased in 1982. The cabinets are worn and falling apart. The handles are so brittle that they are breaking. The drawers are held up with wood glue and the tracks are bent. My countertop is wrotting. The floor bows in a few areas. My stove still operates (it is the original). The refridgerater has been replaced but the replacement was given to us from a friend. It hums and has makeshift shelves held up by cut 2X4’s. The dishwasher has not worked in 15 years. The kitchen vinyl is yellow and pulling away from the walls. We have planned to remoldel but now my 5 year old grandson is living with us and we just cannot manage it., We would love to have a new kitchen that will not only be more energy effecient but safe. Please help

What an mess… we moved in 8 years ago, after getting rid of the mould decided to put a lick of paint on the cupboards, and a coat of laminate paint on the counter top…to tie us over, thinking we could re -model it in a couple of years, no such luck.. owning an older house is a money pit, your money always seems to go else where! The counter top has seen better days and is all pitting, you can see the old brown yucky counter top coming through and the paint on the Kitchen cupboards is all cracking showing the old dark brown cabinet. Its embarrasing.
I would just love to have a kitchen makeover.

I think i am very deserving of a kitchen makeover. I am a single mother of two, working extra hours and days just to keep my bills paid and provide my children with the things that they want and need. I actually need a whole apartment makeover but I have to start somewhere. I have ceramic tiles that are broken and is quite dangerous for the kids to go in the kitchen. My countertop is actually being held down with scotch tape, The knobs on the cabinets all have now come off. I’ve had the same appliances since I’ve moved in the apartment almost 11yrs ago. My kitchen is small but its ours and my kids love to come in and help me cook. I NEED THIS MAKEOVER!!!

In Nov. 2006 a car ran into my house. ( a hit and run at 3am) This causes major damage and my whole kitchen had to be replaced. The new IKEA kitchen gave me migranes and the amount off-gassing from this unit made me acutely sensitive to chemicals. The short of it is that based on the insurance companys position and my lack of financial resources, I had to sell the house I raised my children in and had lived in for thirteen years. I then bought a house that I thought was fine. Installed an air exchanger in to deal with my new sensitivties. Unfortunately, the kitchen was newer than I was led to belive, ( which was also an IKEA kitchen) This kitchen had to be ripped out and my migranes stopped, once it was. It has been six months since my two children and I have had a kitchen. I need either stainless steal/glass/iron/ceramic materials…or i would be happy with the winner of this contest ( their old kitchen and a contrater to install it) Materials five years or older are save from chemecial off-gasing. Why should I be picked? I just want a kitchen. Not to mention I wrote my story in detail ( and it is unbelievable) to Ophra….out of desperation! I appear to have been rejected by Ophra..perhaps because I am a Canadian.

My husband used to be a contracter for 20+years. I would love to have things done around the house especially the kitchen. I think he is just tired and don’t want to do that type of work anymore even if it’s his own. He is a very hard worker and I would love for him to come home and rest his mind to not see things he need to do. Thank you.

My finace and I would like to win this contest because we are not able to finish a newly built home in NOrth Carolina. We currently are barely surviving living in a small apartment until this house is finished. Unfortunately, on April 4, 2008, his father past away from terminal illness. His dad was a cabintetmaker and was going to build us the kitchen. Now, our only chance of getting our kitchen done before we loose the opportunity of ever living in our dream house is winning this contest. We pray every day during dinner that our prayers will be answered, so that we can live like normal people again for us and our children. Please help us get our life back, by choosing us as the winner. We wish Dad were here to help us, but God needed him more. Please help.

My wife and I have been married for 37 years. We have raised our 2 biological boys adopted a 5 month old girl and raised her and another boy and a girl that were not ours. We put them through high school and now they are married and have children. My wife and I have worked all of our lives. I presently am maintaining a full time job, pastoring a small church and teaching classes in a local college. My wife has been cleaning houses for as long as i care to remember. We were able to purchase our home in 1978 and it was a mess then, but we have managed to remodel all but the kitchen and dinning room. We so desperatley need to fix this kitchen. The floor is wood and is falling in in a couple of places. the sink was put in the house in 1963 as a used sink, (metal cabinet) The bottom of it is rusted out and falls through when you stors things in the bottom. the lower cabinets are homemade with plywood and the uppers were purchased at Scottys in 1967. The lighting is a single bulb in the center of the room. The counter tops are plywood with burn places on the counter that are pure ugly. I could send some pictures if you like, but it aint pretty. We would certainly love to win a kichen and dinning room makeover.

My family and i have lived in the same house for approximatley 20 years and not much has changed with the decor since then. we desperatley want to move into something nicer but getting this house ready to sell is a big job and renovations are over our budget. our kitchen needs the most help! the floors are green and yellow tile. the cupboards are yellow. the walls have wooden panneling and outdated wallpaper. lastly the appliances are falling apart. hopefully that paints a good enough picture to descibe how horrible it really is. I want this kitchen makeover for my mom. it would mean everything to her. she has put our family first over herself for many years and i think its about time she recieved something amzing that would mean soo much to her.

❤ you mom Happy mothers days, 2008.

I would love for my kitchen to be repaired, we moved to our house 2 years ago, it needs a lot of work done, and we can’t afford it at all.
Our kitchen is really bad, the cabinet’s doors are falling off, and the sink is leaking.
It’s really disgusting underneath the sink, it’s all moldy, the doors are broken, and we actually are hiding it with fabric. Its all black and blue the wood is fallen apart, and it smells really badly. It really needs to be fixed and we don’t have the money.
    Thank you

I have owned my home 15 years. It was 17 when I bought it so it is now 32 years old. It is an average ranch style home built with average materials and it really needs some updating. My husband is not too interested in my desire for an updated modern kichen so I am entering your contest. I’m sure it will be a dream come true for whoever is the lucky winner. Thanks for accepting my entry.

I am a single mom to an amazing 16 year old. It took everything I had to purchase a home in a decent nieghborhood. We have only lived here for 6 mos. It is a 70’s house with orange and green tones in the kitchen. I love to cook and entertain and have many kids at my house after school. I believe the kitchen is the heart and soul of a home. I have no extra money to even paint. I would love to have the kitchen that would fulfill my needs as a mom and as a place for my family to build new memories…

    Thank you…..Kat Connelly

My husband and I purchased this great house built in 1969. It has over 3300 square foot of space and with our Mission period furniture most of the house looks great. You notice I said MOST! Well, the kitchen didn’t look good in the photos when we saw them online. It didn’t look any better when we saw it up close and personal. The cabinets are painted (many coats)a very pale green which matches the wallpaper(white with green vines). I didn’t like this room, but we bought the house becuase it was perfect for our needs. I am not a master chef, but I do like a nice, neat and usable area to cook in. Even though it is small, this kitchen has SO much potential. The floor is beautiful tile and the appliances are fairly new but the cabinets and countertops are so sad. I swear I can hear the rest of the house talking about the kitchen when we step outside. We’d like to make the kitchen look as good as the rest of our home. We are starting to give the rest of our home a facelift, but the kitchen will have to wait, because it would definitely take funds above our means at this point.

My husband and I bought this house needing to update a 1970’s kitchen.Let me just tell you that the joy of cooking is gone. I went from a brand new kitchen to a kitchen with cabinets that won’t close. Actually, on mothers day the glass kitchen cabinet door fell off the hindge and hit me in the head and brought me to my knees. I thought I had been shot. Let me tell you there is so much more “charater” to this kitchen. The doors don’t close and the functionality is horrific. The pots and pans hang from the wall as well as bananas, tomatos, and anything else that could be hung because there is absolutely no storage space. Please help me get the functionality back into my kitchen.

  • 115. Lorissa Age 13  |  June 28, 2008 at 3:59 pm

(I am entering this contest for my mom.) Hi my dad bought a new house with no room to cook or sit and visit in our kitchen area. My mom is a very good at cooking. We have lived in this house for 7 to 8 years and we all hate it. When my mom goes to cook in our kitchen it makes her want to scream. The cupboards in the kitchen are three different colours three of them are rusty red (really ugly) and 16 cupboards are a yellowey creamy colour and the other 2 are a wood finish, there is no room in our cupboards for cooking supplise. Also our sink is a double sink, the ones with two sinks beside eachother and infront of a cold window witch we have to put plastic over the window throughout the year. What we would like to have is a kitchen that has all matching cupboards not a sink infront of a window that doesn’t open and that get’s frost on it in the winter and also a kitchen that is bright Also bigger cupboards. A kitchen that a professional cook would love to have because she was taught how to cook by a professional cook.

Thank you. I hope my mom will have a really fun time cooking in the kitchen again if we win, and if we don’t win that we will have to manage. As I said befor thank you flor your time.

I am a die-heart HGTV fan, I watch all the shows. I will sit up watching HGTV until it goes off the air. By nature, I am a creative person, I LOVE DESIGNING. when I am watching Divine Design or Spice up my Kitchen I am inspired to do something. Well, I talked my husband into renovating the kitchen. We got a plan and we visited Homepot everyday. Purchased supplies, bought tools, tools we haven’t even operated, but needed them to do the job. We put up walls to divide the space, and the list goes on an on. We could not afford quality cabinetry so we purchased Mills Pride. As we began to put up the wall cabinets, the wall was not leveled, the cabinets bottoms started coming apart and now we are so deep into not knowing what to do next, we have a big big mess. I really and truly need somebodys, anybodys help. OH, WHAT A MIGHTY WEB WE HAVE WEAVED………..

I love to cook and entertain. I enjoy to see people eating the food that I cook and loving it. I would like to entertain for larger amounts of friends and family, but I do not do a lot because of the size of my house and kitchen and plus my cabinets are falling apart. I am too embarressed to have company over.

  • 118. Katherine DeFilippo  |  July 21, 2008 at 3:25 am

My husband and I truly need a kitchen makeover. We have yellow floors, orange counter tops, old scratched and falling apart cabinets and draws, and a yellow sink and dishwasher. We have our first baby on the way due on December 19, 2008 and desperately need the kitchen makeover. Our kitchen is large and too expensive to afford to make it over ourselves. We love to entertain but are actually embarrassed to have company over because of our outdated kitchen. It would truly be a great before and after makeover to air on television.

  • 119. Annamarie Thomas  |  August 10, 2008 at 8:20 pm

Thank you for the opportunity for a $25,000.00 kitchen makeover.
With the original cabinets and sink from 1938, an old tile floor and a refrigerator that’s noisy would be a wonderful gift for me
or anyone. I’m living in the house I was raised in and I could only do home improvement where there were cracks on the
ceiling and walls in the house. One ceiling actually came
down. I had no home owners insurance.
It was a costly repair and the loan with other credit card debts due to a new roof, garage door, a house heater, and water heater has been overwhelming to accept. The kitchen cracks were never repaired. I had no more money to borrow. Even though the kitchen needs an extreme makeover, would it all be possible that the $25,000.00 be split with two other winners needing help. I would be very grateful to receive $8,333.00 and if the judges would give away $8,333.00 to two other deserving people needing help.
Just remember I applied with no money and receiving
a lesser amount would be some home improvement without
    disappointing too many people.
Hopefully, you’ll take into consideration my offer if it’s not
breaking any rules to the contest. It’s just a suggestion!
Thank you again for the opportunity of a kitchen makeover.

I had my kitchen removed 3 years ago and bought a display kitchen which is pretty but certainly did not meet all my needs. I ran out of money to finish it, my oven is still in my bedroom. I have a very teeny stove there just for now. My kitchen faucet is broken and don’t have the money to call a plumber. Things are tough with these gas prices and my commute to work is 2-1/2 hours a day. I live in NH and commute to Boston.

I need an island built to house my oven and I bought an indoor grille 3 years ago but need a cooktop, countertop and hood before I can put in the grille.

I am a 55 year old single parent (child is all grown up now and having babies of her own) and never could quite save enough to finish anything. That is my current dilemma. The parts of the display I did buy are beautiful and so is the hutch I bought to go with it but my kitchen is small and space has to be used very carefully. I would really appreciate the help.

    Thanks so much

I am in need of a kitchen makeover, my home was built in 1950, I am the second owner with the original being the one that the kitchen was designed for, the kitchen cabinets are boxes inside boxes they are white with green doors, orange and yellow limolium floor/green walls, I am a single parent of three and work 18hrs a day to keep up with daily and monthly living expense, I have started to do some remodling but ran out of money to complete, I would love to be the winner of this kitchen makeover will send pictures if this would help!!!!!

  • 123. Karyn Coleman  |  September 13, 2008 at 5:32 pm

Ugh! My silverware drawer scrapes against the wood when we open and close it which leaves sawdust on the pots and pans below. Imagine having to rewash pots before each meal. The laminated floor is puke green with burn holes in it from previous owners. The cabinet shelves are crooked and not sturdy. The counter tops are an orange-yellow horrific color! We have redone every room since we moved in a little over a year ago, except the kitchen. It is a lovely waterfront home and it would be great to enjoy the view from a great, functioning kitchen!

  • 126. Susan Bevilacqua  |  October 8, 2008 at 9:28 am

I have the worst kitchen ever. I am a hockey mom and I have teenagers boys and girls in my kitchen all the time. I started to remodel but I can never finish. These boys and their hockey fees take up all our funds. We have had our boys in hockey since the ages of 4 and 5. I am a very trifty mother I do everything myself including ceremic tiling, electrical wiring of light fixtures, putting in new sinks and toilts. However, this kitchen has been a task that I will never be able to complete by myself with our tight budget. Everytime I save alittle money to get some cabinets, we have to pay another ice fee or buy new equipment. I would just like new cabinets and counter tops. The kids need room to spread out their loafs of bread and make peanut butter and jelly sandwitches. Our tupperware sits on the floor in a laundry basket and our pots and pans just hangout on the stove and in the sink. In a nut shell our kitchen is pathetic looking and we need help.

  • 127. Ashley Jefferson  |  October 20, 2008 at 9:14 pm

Actually this make over would not be for myself. I have a friend who continuously seeks ways to help others and be a blessing to people. Recently he expressed his desire to remodel his mother’s home. He always mentions ways to help his parents at home. He is in graduate school in Mississippi, but is a resident of Miami, Florida. The opportunity to meet people like this young man comes once in a life time. I know that I can’t financially make this wish come true for him, but I thought that I could apply to a sweepstakes and see if someone would remodel his mother’s kitchen. I know that if he could do it for his parents he would. Considering he is in graduate school and is living on a student’s income, that option is not very feasible right now. I just wanted the opportunity to bless someone else. I am sorry that I don’t have specifics of the home or kitchen like some of the entries above, but I would love the opportunity to have be a blessing to someone else.

Well im writing to try and get my mothers kitchen remodeled. She has been the most awesome mother to me and my brother. She has always been a single mom with no help at all. She always made sure we went to every basketball practice, baseball, soccer, gymnastics, every sport there was, every single year. She never missed a game or a recital. And she did it all while working full time and going to school to be a special education teacher. Im 25 now and I have two kids of my own. When I was 17 I became pregnant with my oldest and my mom was there for me. Never acted disappointed just being the awesome mother that she is. When my daughter was born she had a traumatic delivery and ended up in the NICU with kidney failure, seizures and had to be on dialysis. My mom took two months off work to come be with me two hours away. She has never left my side!! She just recently bought a house, the first time ever owning her own house! Even though shes a teacher and had pretty good credit, she had such a hard time getting it. Its a good solid house but the decorating is really bad and out dated. Everything in it is mauve. She has such big plans for the house but i dont know when she will ever be able to do it, not to mention how much it would cost. I just wanted to give back to her to let her know how awesome she is and how much she means to me. She deserves it so much! Shes always puts everyone else first now its her time! Please help my mom out. I know she would appreciate so much!! Thank you

Our house is built in 1978. we are family of four. we are trying to upkeep our house by doing renovation time to time. Most of our saving goes towards the mortgage and other bills and no money left to do big repairs. Apart from fixing roof, doors, driveway and bathroom, my kitchen is calling you for a makeover. It is not at all looking nice. If i win it will be a dream come true and my family will enjoy.
    Thanks for considering

I have been sick with ms for a year and have been house bound. My husband, who is a carpenter started to remodel our kitchen before I got sick and now we are unable to finish. it is bare sheet rock and wonder board. It would be so nice to be able to have people over with out the embarasement.

I kitchen makeover that included a gas cooktop that actually had more than two burners working would be fabulous. I love to spend time in the kitchen preparing all types of dishes and desserts for our local American Legion and other various events that the Auxiliary hosts for the Legion. It’s such a joy to see them enjoy what they are eating and knowing you had something to do with that.

  • 133. Jean Scanlan  |  November 28, 2008 at 3:46 pm

Our house was built in the 50’s. When we moved in we had all of the dreams of remodling the kitchen ourselves. My husband has been out of work twice, and I injured my neck. These circumstances have left us with no choice but to keep our house and the kitchen. Cabinet facing was put over the old painted cabinets years ago. It is now chipping into the dishes and food. I fear that the bottom layer of paint is lead based. I worry constantly for my children, but feel trapped that I can’t aford to fix the problem. I don’t care what a new kitchen would look like, just that it would be safe and that I would’nt dread cooking in it. Thanks for your consideration in our situation.

We bought this house a year and a half ago, We knew it needed a little TLC but we are running short of C.A.S.H. We are trying to get ready soon, Because we want to take in a foster child, Adopt, or Offer an exchange student a geat opportunity in the US.
a Kitchen remodel, Den remodel, and the Bathroom remodeled (Please get rid of that pink tile and tub). Would give us some breathing room to allow things to happen.

    Thank You,

  • 136. Diana Thompson  |  December 31, 2008 at 5:31 am

My house was built in the early 60’s and is the old ranch style. I feel I have the smallest kitchen in America. I have an old oven, the original one that came with the house, it gets so hot you can’t touch the door. The side of the oven is the wall and it is even hot. I have no washing machine because the house wasn’t made with one in the kitchen design. I have painted the kitchen, tried to redo my cabinets in black. I have worked really hard in there. The counter tops are the white laminate with the gold speckles in it. The walls are panel and I tried to do a sponge technique on painting it to make it look better. I would absolutely love to have a kitchen makeover. I am going to start next month to try to take down walls and redo my kitchen myself.

  • 137. diane cochran  |  December 31, 2008 at 5:44 am

I would love a new kitchen. The kitchen area I have now is quite large, but there aren’t very many cabinets or counter space. Ater putting our two girls thru college and now our son is in college, we just don’t have the money. most all of the savings were lost in the stock market. And now we have very in for our retirement. which means my husband and I will be working alot longer than we thought.

We purchased a home that has the most unfriendly kitchen I have ever seen. I have complained about it for 2 years now. With the economy in the shape it is in, we just have not been able to do remodel I have dreamed of. Thanksgiving we were at my brother, Guy’s home for dinner. He loves to cook. He has battled cancer and is still off work after about 3 years of dealing with an on the job injury. I was sitting there looking at his kitchen. Very outdated. All the appliances are on their last leg. The flooring is coming up. I suddenly felt so ashamed. My kitchen to him would be wonderful. He is the one in need of a new kitchen. They have been really struggling for the years he has dealt with health issues. He is the person who would give his last plate of food to someone who was hungry and ask nothing in return. He and his wife Judy have taken in many homeless kids that have had no place to go. Cooking a meal is about all he is able to really do at this time. He just beams with pride to fix you a plate and serve you in his home. I would be so tickled to have the new kitchen I have dreamed of, but my heart would sing if my brother got it instead. Please consider this wonderful and generous man who’s generosity knows no bounds, for a kitchen make over….he is the deserving one.

I would love to win a kitchen make over. Most all of my cabinets the door have fallen off at one point I had my silverware on the table, the floor underneath the cabinets his falling down, I think there is a leak or something because it’s wet and I cleaned mold off the wall. My floor is comming a part in the middle, I cannot run my dryer, and microwave at the same time it blows a circut, I have no heat in that room (burr) I cannot use hot water for my washer or it will shut off the water heater. The closet doors are falling off the track and the floor is swollen so I can’t get them back up.

My dream is to have a wonderful kitchen, so that I can enjoy cooking which my mum taught me from the age of 9. Unfotunately she is no longer around, but it would be give me the ultimate pleasure to be able to cook my speciality dishes in a wonderful kitchen and warms surroundings. Like everyone, we have hurdles in our lives and the kitchen priority keeps going down the list, but if this could happen, I would think my mum is watching down on me and that would be the ultimate dream, knowing that all I am doing in this new kitchen is exactly what she taught me wit h respect and dignity. I have never won anything, to win this competition would be my dream come true.

My Mother just died on January 15th. She was 84 almost 85 years old. My sister owns her home now. She has faithfully given up her life and taken care of our dear Mother since 1994. She and her family moved in to take care of Mom, since 1994. Now that Mom has died, she is trying to go one room at a time to redo the house that is 41 years old and falling apart. They have a full home, but they are all trying to help my sister to fix it.
The big problem is, the kitchen is the worst. If I could win a make-over for my dear sister and her family, I know it would make her life so much easier. My sister is the kindest woman I know. She is trying to do what she can, but their budget is very limited.
We have been going through loosing family members in Feb. 2007, our brother-in-law. Then his wife, our dear sister died of cancer in Jan 2008, and now our dear Mother this year. It’s been such a hard time, and my sister deserves to have her life made a little easier. I wish I could do that for her. I have been helping her 2 days a week doing remodeling, but at this rate, it will take a miracle to get her kitchen remodeled. Is there a contest to win a kitchen makeover I could win for her? I would be so grateful!!!

I am passionate about cooking for my family, and this lead to owning a successful catering company. My husband died two years ago and I had to sell the business because of many reasons. My present kitchen needs an uplift to inspire me to cook again for my family. Moving from a large facility to a small kitchen needs adjustment, as well as the appliances need changing. I am hoping that I would be a fortunate winner to have my kitchen remodelled. I love to cook for my children and would be very excited to have a kitchen makeover. Thank you for choosing me. I would be very grateful.

We just moved into this house it has a great kitchen but is way out of date we have seven kids between the two of us and cannot afford to do alot were taking a little at a time doing what we can we just updated all the electrical. It needs all new cabinets, new floor and new lighting it has the old flourescent lighting on the ceiling it kinda gets us by but hard to deal with when cooking alot. needs some attention we work at the same place i have been a cook for 7 plus years going to culinary. I love to be in the kitchen and just have a knack for the baking and cooking both. We also have this great antique dining room table that we wanna incorporate into the kitchen along with the buffet not willing to get rid of it but just not enough room almost fits but its a tight squeeze. We are still young and love the house the whole thing has alot of potential but needs some attention and any help would be so great and appreciated and so welcomed!!

I think we are in need of a kitchen make over. We live in our home that was built for us in 1971. I refinished our cabinets at 20 years and there not too bad, maybe new hardware. the problem is my eye level oven and range. To get a new stove I would have to give up and match the cabinets below. This stove and oven is also 38 years old.We are in need of new counter tops and remove the rug on the floors.I wish I could afford this expence but my job has been cut back $800 a month and we our 3rd child going off to nurcing school.I know this is a long shot but good things come to those who wait.THANK_YOU for giving me a few minutes of your time. Hope to hear from you Barbara

My name is Abbey. I am only 12 years old. but i want a new kitchen for my mom. she is always cooking in the kitchen. she doesn’t have cancer or a sickness like everyone else seems to have. but she is the best mom in the world. our kitchen is very small and cramped. she says that doesn’t matter though. our oven is so old and broken that every time she goes to close it she has to use a fork to lift a latch and then try to close it without burning herself. i don’t want her to get hurt. we have never had a dishwasher. my friend’s mom just got her kitchen makeovered. when my mom saw it her face lit up. she spent alot of time looking at every little thing. but she new we could never afford it.we don’t have a shower so i guess she is trying to save up for that. my sister does cheerleading and we always are having friends over. she never ever complains though. she says we have to be thankful for what we have. so i knew she would never have the time toenter a contest or evn try. she said to me” i never win anything.” so i decided to try for her. her mom was one of the best cooks. but she past away a couple years ago. i want my mom to remember when she cooks. if you don’t pick my mom i understand. thank you for taking the time to read mom is the best mom in the world and she really needs this.

Hi, Our family has moved into a house we label as ‘lots of potential’!. We wish to install a new kitchen as the benches are below standard height, doors are missing and the appliances are insufficient. Prior owners pulled out the pantry to fit a larger fridge. A new kitchen would make us very happy and help us establish our dream home!

  • 153. ijarmon  |  August 4, 2009 at 6:17 pm

My husband and I purchased our home after we married and now the Kitchen is very dated. We need all new applicance and would love the have some type of stone floor install. As well as the carpet taken out and replaced with wood type flooring. We love our little love nest!!! We have painted and re-painted. But upgrades are needed.

  • 154. Gail gelegan  |  August 21, 2009 at 11:17 pm

My kitchen is old, old, old and sooooo ugly. I bought an old house in November of 08 and have been remodeling since. Much of the work is completed like 2 of the 3 baths, bedrooms (all but one), and living spaces were almost finished until I had a sewer line break and come through the ceiling after a shower backed up and destroyed some of the plaster and hardwood flooring. Now I have lost my teaching job because of the economy and major budget cuts to the educational system in California. All of this has led to the kitchen remodeling being put on hold. The electric stove top works, but I have no oven. The floor is a mix of tar and old pine flooring from peeled off linoleum. The kitchen is very small with little cabinet space/or work area. I have a microwave on the counter and do have a dishwasher and fridge. I bought a fridge on ebay (a really nice one) but can’t fit it in the kitchen and now can’t afford to remodel. Anyway, as you can see from the pictures I submitted to rate my space it is a horrible mess and barely functional. I love the house and want it to be whole again as it was in its original beauty!

For the past 10 years, I’ve been taking care of my family. That is not odd or usual, nor is the fact that I’ve spent most of my earnings taking care of them. It is that for the first time in my life, I don’t have anyone to take care of except for my pets.
When I bought my home, it was under the illusion that my husband, dad, mom and children would contribute and enjoy our home. Not so.
The first year we lived here, my brother became seriously ill and he became a priority. When he passed in 2002, I thought, now I will have time and money to work on my home. Not so. My dad became seriously ill and I was laid off. Pushing any spare time and money far into the future. I worked from home for a year between taking care of my Mom and Dad. Dr appts, shopping, transportation for the parents. My Dad passed in 2004 and I thought, now I will be able to work on my home. Not so. My mother had a stroke the second momth of 2005. She stayed in rehab for 3 months, drugged up. I brought my Mom home and we were blessed to have her for almost 5 years, she passed this month. I was thinking that maybe I would be able to do some work in my home but the expense of caring for my mother was weighty. Not that I minded any of the expenses that I’ve encounted, that is part of life and It didn’t matter because it was for my brother, father and mother.
Now, it is only my husband and I and the pets.
My husband was in a car accident in 2006 and it doesn’t appear as if he will be getting any compensation from that but it doesn’t take away from the pain that he suffers daily from the herniated disk in his neck. He is in real estate and because of the economy he isn’t doing well. Soooo.
I would love to have my small kitchen done over but it just doesn’t appear to be in the future for me unless it is done for free. That is all I can afford.
    Thank you for considering.

i really really need a kitchen makeover. i have 4 kids, 3,15,17, and my husband. my house was made in the 70’s and it is falling apart more and more. i pray on my knees begging for a kitchen makeover. nothing works in my kitchen. a big kitchen, with a lot of potential. my lights are on the ceiling, covered with plastic. my cupboards are sticky, and falling apart. my walls have holes and roaches are living in them. almost everyday, something new i find broken in my kitchen. its not a safe environment for my baby, or my whole family. if i get a kitchen makeover, you have no idea how this will change my life. i will actually invite my friends to my house instead of me saying how nice theirs is. thank you.

  • 160. MARIAM LARA  |  December 22, 2009 at 1:10 pm

When we moved into this house in October 2006, we noticed that the kitchen looked nasty. I guess I knew I would be able to do something to it one day. We’ve been here 3 years and the kitchen looks ugly still. I have tried painting the cabinets to change the appearance, and the walls, but it still looks as if there’s something missing. I have lots of get togethers here for birthdays and summer barbeques. I need more counter space and maybe an island to entertain with seats around it. I pictured what my future kitchen would look like and it’s great. I can’t do anything right now because we don’t have the money for any remodels. All in all, my kitchen needs a serious makeover, it’s so outdated that people walk in and say, oh, why don’t you guys do this or that. I need alarger and more workable kitchen. Please help me. Please, please, please, please, please!!!!!

  • 163. Jessica Morales  |  February 9, 2010 at 7:38 pm

Hi, moved to a house 2 years ago. The kitchen is large (about 30 ft long) and has a large fireplace and island in it. It is in need of updating especially the floor. No matter how much the old vinyl floor is cleaned it still appears dirty. Its rather embarassing when people come over. I would be happy with just a floor makeover to compliment the rest of the kitchen. Just like everyone else now a days, money is tight and remodeling or getting a new kitchen floor is not in the budget. Please help me get a new floor for my kitchen.
    Thank you!

  • 164. Aquilline Braselman  |  March 23, 2010 at 8:23 pm

I live in a historical home that needs alot of updates the kitchen is really old and it’s not appealing at all, I have lived in this house for 17 years as a single parent raising 3 children and its been hard to manage a house over a hundred years old with 3 children on one income. It’s so hard to be in my kitchen anymore because it’s so horrible looking, so I hope that you can help me with this terrible site of a kitchen. Thank you for the entry.

  • 165. David Sutter  |  April 4, 2010 at 7:37 pm

Hi, I am entering my parents in for the kitchen makeover. I can’t describe to you how bad it is they got a linolium blue floor in more then 10 years ago, you can’t imagine what it looks like now. It has chair marks, scraches, everything you can think of you would think the design was blue with scraces all over. Their cupboards are really bad too blue, painted over blue, white once and blue again, they look horrible. My parents both have health problems, my father use to worked fulltime in a hospital and got an enlarged heart and can only work part time no longer then 4 hours a time and he has diabetes. My mother has rhemotid arthritis throughout her whole body crippling her toes, knees , hands and worst of all it went to her eyes leading her to become blind. She use to be a school teacher. She has been blind almost 30 years. They live on disability, social security and the little my dad brings in working part time. They have always lived a good life and raised 3 children and I couldnt think of anyone that deserves it more then them. If my mom could truly see how the floors were, she wouldnt believe it. I tell her all the time and she keeps saying they don’t have money for it. Her dream is to have wooded floors and wooden cupboards, but she would be happy with just a new floor, she has suffered for so long and this would make her so happy. Thank you.

hi , have just recently moved to a larger house due to having a baby in 6 weeks, the state of the house when we first viewed was discusting but myself and my partner thought the property had potiental so we decided to accept we have had to rip up all the flooring throughout the house and have just recently had it done throughout, we have had to redecorate every room and is now starting to take shape and is starting to look more like home. so the whole property has been redecorated appart from the kitchen due to meeting our budget limit, the kitchen is dredful cupboard doors are falling off the owner fitted the sink in the wrong place in the kitchen, there are hardly no worktop space to do cooking, the cooker its self is falling appart, but no fundings to replace. the boiler has just been thrown on the wall with loads of terible looking pipes sat at the side. there is no cupboard space and its just dredful. i love cooking but have not had many cooked dinners since living in the property due to loosing my spirit so please help me find my spirit again ive always believed the kitchen is the heart of any home and my heart is broken at the moment so please fix it for me. we would be the happiest family in the world. thank you

My husband is a Viet Nam vet on disability and though he is handy we just can’t pull off repairs needed. Don’t ever plan on moving from our home but could use some help with repairs. thanks

my husband was recently let go from his job. We were hit hard from hurricane Irene and lost entire finished basement. I have three young girls and the kitchen is a nightmare. No counter space, and no cabinet space, broken window, chipped paint, etc. Previous owners made window over sink too big so it limits more storage. We really need help but finances r hard.

We have a home over 100 years old that has an old alley kitchen. It is terribly small, with the old porcelain sink. We are getting closer to retirement age so are afraid if we try to take out a loan would not be able to pay for it in our lifetime. We have done a lot of other updates such as roof, windows & siding, plus tore out the old lathe & plaster upstairs, put in all new wiring, new insulation, & knotty pine paneling. Would love to have a larger, new kitchen. Thank you for a chance at your seeepstakes.
